Is Google Making Us Stupid?

1) Write a brief summary of the article's main argument or claim.
- The author is stating that he has been struggling to read books and articles on paper and staying as focused as he used to be. He believes it is from the level of excess of internet surfing hes been doing recently. He is having trouble doing research and staying focused when working.

2) How does the article say the Internet has affected his thinking process?
- The internet has limited our research ability. We turn to ideas of others rather than actual research you would find by digging deep into books.

3) In class on Monday, we discussed "Socrates Nightmare" and its definition of literacy as being able to think deeply and beyond face value. How is literacy defined in this article?
- Literacy is defined as being able to look deeply or further into something rather than briefly reading or overlooking it.

4)How are the above definitions similar and/or different?
-Literacy in “Socrates Nightmare” is defined the same as it is in this article.

5) According to the article, how has the Internet changed the thinking processes and mental habits for many people?
- The internet has affected people negatively by causing them to jump around and lose focus quickly. Websites provide the ability to read something quickly and then click on something else only minutes after. Internet allows people to jump around from subject to subject which causes humans to start losing key focusing skills.

6) What types of evidence does the author provide to back up his claims? (List at least 3).
- He gives evidence from personal experience, quotes from researchers, and Friedrich Neitzsche and the typewriter.
7) Is this evidence effective? Why or why not?
- Yes this evidence is effective because he gives valid examples and scientific evidence that helps prove his theory.

8) What is the article's answer to the "so what?" question? Why does this topic matter and what can the reader take away from this article?
- The “so what” of this article is that the internet is killing our intellectual process by providing easy escape routes to research.
